SEA PROFILER 4

SEA PROFILER 4

Single and Dual Frequency ADCPs for Ocean Monitoring and Surveys.

The SEA PROFILER4 4th generation ROWE ADCP Technologies employ a common core of multiple-frequency electronics and firmware modules, and dual-frequency Piston-array or Phased-array transducers to simultaneously measure precision and short Range and Long Range vertical profiles of 3-Axis Currents, Echo Intensity, plus bottom track and altitude providing:

  • A spatial survey of vertical profiles along the path of travel of a moving vessels,
  • A time series vertical profiles in fixed moored deployments, and
  • Bottom or water referenced velocities for vessel navigation (DVL).

A single SEA PROFILER4 ADCP has 4 or 5 Janus Configuration BEAM sets with each set operating at acoustic frequencies differing by a factor of 4. A video animation illustrating the Dual-frequency generation from a single transducer is shown on the right for reference. The lower frequency provides longer profiling range, and the higher frequency provides higher spatial, velocity and temporal resolution currents and echoes nearer to the ADCP- equivalent to 2 single-frequency ADCPs but physically and functionally integrated in a single unit.

Optional transducer configurations available are:
  • Single Frequency piston arrays of 75, 150, 300, 600, 1200, 2000 kHz.
  • Dual Frequency piston arrays of 75/300, 150/600, 300/1000, 600/2000 kHz.
  • Single Frequency Phased arrays of 38, 75, 150, 300 kHz.
  • Dual Frequency Phased arrays of 38/150, 38/300, 75/150, 150/300 kHz.
  • Vertical beams of 150, 300, 600, 1000 kHz.

Modular Design for Every Need:

We are currently working on a Modular design wherein a Direct-Read (DR) ADCPs can also be converted to a Self-Contained unit (SC) by attaching a modular plug-in battery pack. A video animation is shown on the right that illustrates the conversion from Direct-Read (DR) unit to Self-Contained (SC) unit.

  • Direct-Read (DR) Mode: In DR mode, the ADCP operates as a highly efficient real-time measurement system when connected to an external power source, making it ideal for deployments with access to consistent power.
  • Self-Contained (SC) Mode: When external power sources are unavailable, users can quickly convert the system into a fully Self-Contained (SC) unit by attaching the modular plug-in battery pack. This mode ensures long-term operation in remote or offshore locations without the need for additional power sources.
  • The modular flexibility ensures that your measurement capabilities can adapt to varying project conditions, whether you're conducting deep-water surveys or studying shallow coastal currents.
  • The ability to switch between Direct-Read and Self-Contained modes makes these systems highly versatile for both stationary installations and dynamic offshore environments.

Features and Benefits

The Sea PROFILER ADCPs employ 4th generation ROWE ADCP Technologies (ADCP4), simultaneously measure precision and short Range and Long Range vertical profiles of:

  • 3-Axis Currents,
  • Echo Intensity,
  • Plus Bottom tracka and Altitude
providing a spatial survey of vertical profiles along the path of travel of a moving vessel.
